Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was organized at Howard University on January 16, 1920 as a result of encouragement
given to the five founders by Charles Taylor and Langston Taylor,
members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Our Five Pearls: Arizona Cleaver (Stemmons), Pearl A.
Neal, Myrtle Tyler (Faithful), Viola Tyler (Goings), and Fannie Pettie (Watts), chose not to embrace
the tenets of established sororities and chartered Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to encourage the highest standards of scholarship,
service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood.
The Tau Phi Zeta Chapter of Canton, MS was chartered on May 27, 2004. The charter members of this great
creation are known to many as the ELITE EIGHT. They are; Chuconna Anderson-Rideout*, Rhonda Moore-Jackson, Angela Williamson, Shoney Anderson, Leah Foxworth, Keisha
Larkin-Garrett, Janelle Hannah, and Catherine (Nichole) Coleman. These eight women decided
to step outside of the box, venture, and conquer whatever was thrown their way to further answer the call of Zeta.
In the ways of true Zeta women, they succeeded. Tau Phi Zeta has done numerous community service projects within the city
of Canton, as well as sponsoring youth auxiliaries.
